JChadima

In Springtime in Paris 6, JChadima moves beyond the conventional representation of the flower, using botanical form as a point of departure for an exploration of abstraction, perception, and organic movement. The flower is no longer presented as a fixed or descriptive subject; instead, it is enlarged, fragmented, and reorganized into a fluid composition in which petals and surrounding forms appear to fold, overlap, and emerge from one another.

The painting is structured through an interplay of broad, softly modelled shapes and more concentrated passages of colour. Luminous whites and pale pinks are set against muted greens, cool greys, and violet tones, while a narrow passage of vivid yellow introduces an unexpected chromatic intensity near the center of the composition. Deep olive green provides a strong vertical anchor in the upper field, creating visual tension against the softer, atmospheric forms surrounding it and directing the eye toward the central white form.

Of particular interest is JChadima’s treatment of positive and negative space. Boundaries remain fluid: what initially appears to be a petal may become a fold, an opening, a leaf, or the suggestion of another organic structure. The composition therefore resists a single reading. Botanical references remain recognizable, but they continually approach abstraction, encouraging the viewer to move between recognition and uncertainty.

This perceptual ambiguity is central to the work. JChadima does not simply depict nature but examines the visual language underlying it—curve, repetition, expansion, compression, balance, and growth. The enlarged scale and close cropping remove the flower from its conventional context, transforming an intimate natural subject into an immersive field of colour and form.

Within the broader Springtime in Paris series, Springtime in Paris #6 demonstrates JChadima’s continuing interest in finding abstraction within the structures of the natural world. The painting occupies a productive space between observation and invention, where the familiar becomes less certain and the act of looking becomes part of the subject itself.
