PEONY in ACID COLOR

Peony in Acid transforms the familiar beauty of a peony into an intensely vivid exploration of colour, form, light, and perception. Beginning from a monochromatic study, JCHADIMA reimagines the flower through an extraordinary palette of electric pinks, violets, acid greens, yellow, red, and deep blue.
The enlarged peony dominates the composition, its layered petals unfolding into bold, simplified shapes. The flower remains recognizable, yet its natural appearance is deliberately transformed. Lines and colour fields emphasize the underlying structure of the bloom, while the luminous central stamens become a powerful focal point.
The contrast between the original black-and-white study and the final painting reveals an important aspect of JCHADIMA's process: observation is transformed rather than simply reproduced. By replacing natural colour with an almost surreal palette, the artist shifts the viewer's attention from the literal flower to its hidden architecture, rhythm, and emotional energy.
The surrounding foliage becomes part of the abstraction, creating a dynamic field of interlocking shapes and intense colour. The result is both botanical and contemporary—a familiar flower experienced as something unexpected.
Peony in Acid reflects JCHADIMA's continuing interest in looking beyond the surface of nature to discover the forms, patterns, colours, and visual energy that are often overlooked.
A familiar flower transformed into an explosion of colour and perception.
