Since 2004, in the small village of Blauzac in the South of France, Jean-Louis Dulaar works with natural dyes only by fermentation, decoction, reduction, without and with cooking and mordant, tradition used before the 17th century and the invention of chemical dyes.
Finding a way to discuss and observe nature , seeking her own balance, looking for plants material in other part of the world. Teintures naturelles, natural dyes and other color of life. I also travel worldwide to find plants, leaves, barks, lichens, mushrooms, insects and people who have knowledge, which sometime gets lost, forgotten traditions. I work several months in a place, living with them, sharing their lives. In that world, there is also a lot of beauty, you can call it foolishness, but it’s what it is. How I landed here? In this magnificent garden. I believe in the beauty of my dreams.
