The series blends traditional motifs with modern patterns, reflecting Afghanistan's current realities. Carpets, a culturally significant medium, are used to represent the harsh realities faced by many Afghan women today. Once professionals who lost their jobs and livelihoods under the Taliban, many women have been forced into the grueling industry of carpet weaving to survive.
Through this series, Akbar amplifies the voices of contemporary carpet weavers, highlighting their struggles and resilience. The artworks serve as a canvas for dialogue, honoring Afghan women's courage and their fight for rights. The series also traces Afghan women's journey through history, preserving their cultural heritage while honoring their courage and fight for rights.
